Fourteen things to know in Bergen County this week (expanded edition)

Plenty happening this week on the Bergen County beat as debate season continues and a luncheon talk by former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman is on tap.

Here are a few things to watch for:

1. The Bergen County Utilities Authority holds a household hazardous waste collection event on Sunday until 3 p.m. at Bergen Community College, 400 Paramus Road. Click here for more information.

2. Road Warriors past and present will be our guests on the next Record Talk Radio broadcast at 10 a.m. Monday. Jeff Page and John Cichowski will talk about their column on the occasion of it’s 25th anniversary.

3. Former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman will talk to the Ridgewood League of Women Voters during at luncheon at the Old Paramus Reformed Church, 660 East Glen Road in Ridgewood.

4. The League of Women Voters in Northern Valley will host a forum for candidates for the Englewood Board of Education on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Public Safety/Municipal Court building at 73 S. Van Brunt Street in Englewood.

5. Mark DiPisa, Republican candidate for State Assembly in the 38th Legislative District, will stop in to talk with the Record’s editorial board on Tuesday at 10 a.m.

6. The State Senate Legislative Oversight committee will hold its third hearing on Port Authority reforms and capital projects on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Freeholder chambers on the fifth floor of the County Administration building at One Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack.

7. Ramapo College will host a legislative candidates forum for the State Assembly candidates from Bergen County on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 505 Ramapo Valley Road in Mahwah. The event is being organized by Pi Sigma Alpha, Student Government Association, College Republicans, College Democrats and the American Studies Club.

8. The League of Women Voters of Bergen County will host a debate for the State Assembly candidates in the 39th Legislative District on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Westwood Borough Hall at 101 Washington Ave.

9. The League of Women Voters of Bergen County will host a debate for the State Assembly candidates in the 38th Legislative District on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Paramus High School, 99 East Century Road in Paramus.

10. The League of Women Voters of Northern Valley will host a debate for the Englewood mayor and council candidates on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Public Safety/Municipal Court building at 73 S. Van Brunt Street.

11. Democratic Freeholders Steve Tanelli, Tracy Zur and Thomas Sullivan will be in to talk about their re-election campaign with the Record’s editorial board at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

12. The League of Women Voters of Bergen County will host a debate for the Freeholder candidates at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bergen County Technical High School at 504 Route 46 West in Teterboro.

13. The Bergen County Job Fair will take place on Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the gymnasium of Bergen Community College at 400 Paramus Road in Paramus. 14. Bergen County will host a Zoo Boo event at the County Zoo on Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at 216 Forest Avenue in Paramus. Advance purchase of tickets is required. Click here for more information.
